Tomorrow is the day

Tomorrow is the day. ..the day I become a Tripawd.  My Mom is trying to stay calm and relaxed and not stress…key word trying.  She is trying to be strong for me but I know her heart is in her throat, her tummy is upset and her nerves are shaky.   I don’t understand what the big deal is and I am doing my best to try and make her happy but my Super Boomer powers aren’t even strong enough to take these bad emotions away today.

I hope Mom is going to be okay while I am in the hospital.   I don’t know if my sister Sunshine can fill in the Super Boomer roll while I am gone but I know she will give it her best.

Meanwhile, I ate my supper tonight without Mom telling me to several times.  I was actually hungry.  Figures, I can’t have anything to eat after midnight tonight so I would be hungry today.  Mom even slipped me a bite of homemade sugar cookie today.  I know that my diet is going to change when I get home and that is going to be yummy, I can’t wait for that.

Well, everyone, for the next couple days I will be at the hospital so Mom will be doing the updates and keeping you posted on my Super Boomer progress and status.  Wish me luck.

  1. Hey Boomer, your mom sounds like my mom. Her throat and tummy will probably stay that way until you come home from the hospital but if she looks on this website she will feel better. You look like a Lab and we do in fact have super powers. I made a LOT of noise once I woke up in the hospital, as people were out of order and not petting me. I didn’t really care so much about missing the leg as much as the fact that the humans at the hospital seemed to feel that they occasionally needed to pay attention to other dogs, not realizing that finely tuned Lab super powers need constant attention. Anyway, after 2 nights there I got right up and walked out and got in a yellow taxi to go home. I was a little bit tired for a while, but my mom says it was so so so so SO much less scary than her mind imagined it would be. She says to tell your mom not to worry too much and that you will be ok and you won’t be worried nearly as much about your extra leg as you will about whether there is good food and good snuggling to be had.

    1. Ajax,
Thank you so much. I really hope my Mom does as well as your Mom. I am a Golden Retriever so we are close to the Labs and share many super powers. My pawrents love the fact that I cuddle and snuggle them so much and food…well, Mom said I have to loose a bit of weight so I am sorta on a diet. She says keeping my extra weight off will be easier on me. I say that is not extra weight, it is SUPER BOOMER muscle.
I am looking forward to seeing what Mom writes while I am in the hospital about the recovery. The vet says she can visit any time and I know she will keep me posted on everything going on here.
      Love,
      Boomer

  2. Good luck Super Boomer!

Tell you mom to try to not worry and to rest up while you are at the hospital being upgraded to a tripawd. (That’s how I liked to think of it when Abby had her surgery…)

All the best; keep us posted!
    Jackie, Angel Abby’s mom

    1. That’s what I tell her. I am sure as soon as she sees how fast I recover with my new upgrade, she will be much better.

  3. He’s the best Boomer in the whole wide world! When Super Boomer lands on his three feet, he’ll attack a ribeye steak with all of his might. He will even sacrifice his mommas steak if needed.

  4. Its not as bad as it seems ,just make sure they have lots of treats (not the bad ones ,see my blog) as it helps getting something in your stomach before taking the meds, and you should be up and around and feeling somewhat normal in just no time ……The best of luck cuz and we hope to hear more from you on your speedy recovery.

    1. Mom is going to keep everyone posted during my recovery. She is going to make me home made food and some pill pockets. I am going to look at your blog and see what Mom needs to get. Thanks for your well wishes.

    2. Mom is going to get some pill pockets and make me some treats. I spoil my Mom so she figures she should spoil me back.

  5. sending healing thoughts and our best ‘ET juju’ to get you through the surgery. it’s scary, but it will be behind you soon, and you can continue improving on your super powers as a tripawd!!!

  6. Dear SuperBoomer:

I am terribly sorry that you have to be a GR instead of a Lab, but then some of my best friends are GRs ….once you have your tripawd upgrade I will make you an honorary Lab maybe. Tell your mom that there is a super tripawd secret: once you get your upgrade, the whole WORLD will be giving you love an attention even more than you already got for being a — hmmph – Blonde. I got my own clothing line and today I got put on a poster for my hospital. It is a picture of me running through a sprinkler 26 days after my surgery. Tell your mom to get lots and lots of sleep before you come home because if she is a Worrywart mom she will be tired from watching over you for a few weeks. Tell her she can write to me if she has any questions on how to make you comfortable. My mom says I communicate my wishes very clearly, and why doesn’t Dad learn from my good communication skills.

    good luck tomorrow
    lots of love

    1. Ajax,
You are a celebrity! Poster at the docs office! That’s wonderful!!
Thanks for letting Mom write to you for help and advice. I am sure she will need it. Also, I am sure she feels the same way about Dads communication versus my superior communication.
      Thanks for the well wishes.

  7. Hi again Boomer! We super dogs surprise the vets everytime – I was released a full day early as they could not keep me down. A Super Boomer will likely surprise everyone too! Keep us posted ’cause you know we are all pulling for you.

    1. Since I am a known super hero, the vet says I will probably be able to come back home tomorrow. Mom thinks I will be too groggy to do much for a while but we will see. Power to the Super dogs. 🙂

  8. Good luck Boomer! I am sure you will do great and be bouncing around in no time. I just had my surgery one month ago and my mom was so worried. But I showed her that I am still the same dog just minus a leg and she has no regrets. Looking forward to the updates!

    1. Kathy & Tasha,
Only a month?! Wow! How are you doing? I will be keeping everyone posted and forgive Mom if she sneaks some stuff in.

      Thanks again.

  9. Yo! SB! We’ll be thinking of you tomorrow and sending all our strength and tripawd love to help you through!

  10. HELLO SUPERBOOMERS MOMMY

LOVE FROM SPARKY MIGHTY RAT TERRIER TRIPAWD

  11. Hey Super Boomer, this is Lucy letting you know that my mom is a worrier too. She did great after my surgery. Too much stress ahead of time. We all got to relax and lay around when I came home. I got special food, and still do! Special treats, and still do! Moms are great for that. My recovery was somewhat uneventful but I do remember Mom checking on me all day and night. I think she was up watching me too! She’s so funny. I hope you and your mom have a good recovery. Good luck!
