We took Super Boomer to the ER today. He started vomiting, hasn’t had a BM yet and wasn’t perking up or wagging his tail. His stats are good, he should have a BM in the next day or so and the ER vet gave him stuff to stop his vomiting. We have reduced his Tramadol and took him off of the Duramaxx. I am not going to give him the sedative again because that really zoned him to the point I thought he was going to die.
No water and no food until this afternoon. Boomer slept a fair amount since he has been home from the ER and is starting to get up a bit. His ears are still down and I know it is because he is uncomfortable right now. We have 1.5 more hours until we can give him some pain meds and then hope he can keep them down. Boomer, even though he is uncomfortable is still getting up and going outside to pee (something we are so thankful for).
So, after 4 PM Boomer finally had his first BM since his amputation. He is now eating and drinking but still not 100% and is spitting up (not throwing up). Today has been a real roller coaster. Robert has completely taken over everything in this house so I can focus on “His Super Boomer”. Boomer is being no more trouble than he has to.
Aw, Boomer, I hope you feel better soon!
Did the ER have any insight on why he was vomiting? Did they think it was the meds?
Hang in there,

They think it was the meds so we changed up the types and routine. He is doing better. Thank you. 🙂

Feeling better already with lots of love. Thank you for your support. 🙂
Aw Boomer! Having surgery and getting used to all those medicines can be tough. I’m sorry you’re feeling a bit punky. Hopefully your good doctors will figure out what medicines you can tolerate and get everything straightened out. Until then, just take things easy and try to rest as much as possibly. Try to remember to drink as much as possible, especially if you continue to vomit. I hope you feel better real soon buddy! We’re sending our good thoughts your way for a quick recovery!!
Oy, so scary! I hope things get better fast for Boomer! Baby didn’t want to drink when she came home. I finally got a cup from a fast food place and put some ice-water in it. She finally drank. Now she’s totally spoiled and only wants to drink from her cup. It was worth it though to see her drinking. Isn’t it a relief to see him finally poop! We’re like new parents with all getting excited about pooping we do. Then again, they are our babies, aren’t they. Happier times ahead! Try to get some rest.
Judy and Baby
Boomer has been really good about drinking from the moment we brought him home (don’t let him know about Baby’s personal cup) 🙂 I am thinking we are going to have to change the S in super Boomer to S as in Spoiled Boomer or make it a SS for Super Spoiled Boomer. 🙂 These kids are our babies that is for sure. We get up with them, celebrate every post op accomplishment (like peeing and pooping), stay up almost all night checking on them. My yougest 2 legged human kid is 17. It has been years since I’ve been up so much at night but I wouldn’t trade it for the world because I love all my kids 2, 3 and 4 legged. I am glad you found a way to get Baby to drink.
Sometimes its good when ya tune in a little late! Glad to hear things are looking up SB!
Hang in there bud!
Travis Ray and the OP+1
Sending lots of hugs and wags for a speedy recovery!

Yay for your first poooooo! Sorry the rest has been a little bumpy, but it gets better, I promise.
If you are worried about Boomer getting dehydrated, you can give him some low sodium broth mixed with water. I usually did half and half, but if he’s not interested, just leave the water out.
Hope you’re feeling better tomorrow!!!
